Our long-time friends at Schwarzkopf Professional launched their Shaping Futures initiative back in 2008. The Shaping Futures initiative offers a brighter future to disadvantaged youngsters by teaching them the craft of hairdressing. Over the last 10 years, voluntary teams from their salon network have been sharing their expertise with youngsters in 25 countries.
The summer, eight British hairdressers are setting off for the Philippines and Vietnam to teach 25 young people the basics of hairdressing. At the end of the training programme, the youngers will be either given the opportunity of full-time employment or additional training. Pretty cool, isn’t it?
We thrilled to see that one of our #OpenChairNight presenters and HairClubLive members, Annabelle Taylor (from Edward & Co) will be joining the initiative. Go Annabelle! Along with the rest of the volunteers, Annabelle has recently attended training in Durham to practise her ‘Essential Skills’ ensuring that she will deliver the course to the best of her ability. The volunteers were also taught how to deliver the learning and evaluate the student’s progress in the sessions, too.
They’ll spend the next six weeks fundraising for the trip and SOS Children’s Villages before flying out in August. We can’t wait to receive updates and images of their trip. Good luck, team!
