Cuban experience

We’ve long felt the support of the Akito scissors brand in all we do at so it’s great to see them sharing the love with others, too. And how! Taking a trip to Cuba recently, team Akito intended to teach and donate scissors to barbers and hairdressers in the capital city of Havana. In fact, a meeting with William (pictured above) a 24-year-old, self-taught barber in a back alley ‘salon’, gave Akito team themselves plenty of learning opportunities! Owner John Allen declared himself amazed by watching William work just with a pair of kitchen scissors, a razor blade and a dodgy old pair of clippers. “We found that the majority of the scissors being used by the Cuban hairdressers and barbers were blunt, and a lot of the electrical equipment held together by tape, but the quality of the workmanship was great!”. Sounds like a visit with mutual benefits on both sides. Good for John and his team. It’s a brotherhood we all belong to, and proud of it.
