Amongst the L’Oréal Professionel ID Artist team is HairClubLive friend, @lois-negus, go Lois! Really pleased to see you maxing out the opportunity to shine, share and inspire by signing up for this.
Each year L’Oréal invites a new group of hairdressers to share their mentoring programme ID Artists and on Sunday 21 October, 36 stylists and colourists from the UK and Ireland formed a new intake. Their first Autumn/Winter education meeting – a 2-day affair – was held at the L’Oréal Academy in Leeds, hosted by Darren Oram, LP’s Education Director, where they joined some 30 existing team members. Quite a group then! To ramp up the excitement, special guests from Brooks & Brooks attended, too. They included British Hairdresser of the Year Sally Brooks, alongside her business partner Jamie Brooks and their art team members Issie Churcher, Grace Dalgleish and Marlon Hawkins. This was to be an in-depth digital and social media induction.
The purpose of the education meeting was to be an exercise in combining creativity and teamwork. The ID artist were split into groups of six and each team had to collect a mystery box containing a variety of items from food colours to water pistols and from wool to fresh flowers. Each group has to then work as a team to create a collection based around the items in their box. Sally and Jamie Brooks, along with their art team members, demonstrated how the exercise would work by producing four boxes of their own accompanied by four stunning models.
On Tuesday afternoon, each team collaborated fully, coached by Sally and Jamie as well as the L’Oréal Professionnel Creative Team, and produced a mood board and mannequin head to present their ideas and concepts back to Sally and Jamie who then gave feedback on the teams’ finished results.
Sally Brooks said: ” Working with the ID Artists was about thinking outside the box and having a great two days of creativity and fun. We wanted to share our knowledge and experiences with some of the most talented up-and-coming hairdressers in the country and give them an insight to how my mind works. Creativity is contagious so pass it on!”
