The Hooker & Young photographic awards took place last week, and were a riot of creativity. Way to go team H&Y! These awards gave all team members a chance to compete, with entry looks photographed by Michael Young and judged by some of the top names in the hairdressing industry. It’s great to see people challenging themselves and the competition standard was high! Well done to everyone who entered, and a shout-out to our friends and HairClubLive members Gary (Hooker) &  Michael (Young) for giving everyone a chance to get involved. The winners are as follows…

• Assistant 1 – Kizzy O’Hara, Jesmond Open to all assistants with under 2 years’ experience, entrants were required to create a styling only look of their choice to showcase their skill and talent. • Assistant 2 – Bevan Clark, Jesmond (Open to all assistants with over 2 years’ experience. Entrants were required to create a look of their choice to showcase their skill and talent.) •  Salon Trend – Loren Williams, Ponteland (Open to all stylists, entrants were required to create an on-trend cut and colour look with consumer appeal). • Creative Long Hair – Sophie Gibson, Gosforth (From classic long hair to avant garde, this award was open to all team members who were required to create a long hair look of their choice showcasing their creative skill and talent). • Schwarzkopf Essential Look – Jonathon Turner, Jesmond (To the stylist most accurately representing this season’s Schwarzkopf Essential Looks collection.) • Oribe Style Award – Millie Nesbitt, Gosforth (To the stylist most accurately representing the beauty of Oribe hair.) • The Visionary – Zack Hammond, Darlington (To the most progressive look epitomising the Hooker & Young brand.) • Stylist of the Year – Stewart Craig, Gosforth Artistic Team – Gosforth (For the salon whose team members scored highest across the awards.) • Salon of the Year – Gosforth.
